FOIA Request

Event Request

If you would like to hold an event in one of Lewes’ parks or beaches, please email Janet Reeves, or call 302-645-7777 ext 100. View the Event Request Form (PDF).

Please note that events at the beaches are not allowed on the following timeframes:

  • Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-29)
  • Week of July 4th (July 1-9)
  • Labor Day Weekend (September 1-4)

Bonfire Request

Submit your Bonfire Request Form (PDF) during normal business hours. Requests are not accepted on weekends or holidays. Permits will be emailed to you within 2 to 3 business days.

A bonfire permit is required for any and all open flames on Lewes Beach and Lewes Beach shoreline. This includes bonfires, grilling, and cooking. Open flames are not allowed during metered hours of 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day. This includes cooking on the beach.

Starting after Labor Day until Memorial Day, bonfires and open flames start after 4 p.m.

Outdoor Amplification Request

Outdoor amplification for parties, events, weddings, etc. will be reviewed the the Lewes City Manager. All amplification requests MUST be submitted for consideration no later than 60 days PRIOR the event. Banner Display Request

To request permission to display a banner along Savannah Road, fronting Richard Shields Elementary School, please review the rules, complete the Banner Display Request Form (PDF) and forward to Kenny Morris at:

Scheduling is on a first come, first served basis.

Canalfront Park Transient Agreement

Fill out the Canalfront Park Transient Agreement (PDF) when requesting space at the Canalfront Park Marina or City Dock on a short term basis. Any questions, please contact the Dockmaster at 644-1869.

Candidate Filing

In order to run for Mayor or City Council, you must complete the Candidate Filing Form (PDF) and hand-deliver to City Manager, Ann Marie Townshend, at:

Lewes, DE 19958.

Race & Parade Permits

Any organizer of a race (5k, 10k, 1 mile, etc.) or an organizer of a parade must apply for a Race and Parade Permit (PDF). Depending on the route, if on a state maintained road, such as Savannah Road, the organizer may also have to contact DelDOT for a special events permit.

City Meeting Room at Rollins Center

The room requires a $500 security deposit, certificate of insurance $1,000,000 with city of Lewes as an additional insured for the specific requested event date, and only for use by non-profits who can show proof of either condition below:

  • Lewes-based non-profit organizations include organizations whose physical location, location of registered agent, and/or principal place of business is within the corporate limits of the City of Lewes.
  • Non-profit organizations means organizations with 501(c)3 status, homeowners associations of Lewes communities, and other non-profit organizations whose principal function is to serve citizens of the City of Lewes.
